You touch a creature or object to determine more information about it.
If it is a magic item or some other magic-imbued object, you learn: its properties and how to use them, such as a command word; and how many charges it has, if any.
If the item is cursed, you will NOT know that it is cursed.
You learn whether any spells are affecting the item and what they are. If the item was created by a spell, you learn which spell created it.
If you instead cast this on a creature, you learn what spells, if any, are currently affecting it, such as a curse.
Your touch sends a ripple through the object, unseen threads of energy unraveling before you. Faint traces of power hum beneath your fingertips—patterns, commands, hidden workings laid bare, their purpose and function unfolding in silent revelation.

The target becomes identified: you learn how to use it, its magical properties, item charges, and spells affecting it; on a creature, spells currently affecting it. Curses on items are not revealed as such.
