A companion volume to the first chronicle, bound in blackened iron plates scarred by deep gouges—as though clawed by steel talons. The cover is embossed with a shattered gear motif, cracks radiating from the center like a broken crown. Pages are thinner sheets of hammered bronze, many warped by ancient heat; the etchings are deeper here, almost painful to trace with bare fingers. Several pages bear faint oil-stains that never dry, and a single, inert fragment of steam-pipe is riveted to the spine. The book emits a faint, rhythmic ticking when left undisturbed in silence.
