chapter i: the ascension of the sky-kinc

in the afternath of the century uar, uhen the bones of fallen titans yet snoked upon the face of zin and the nortal races dreu their first trenblinc breaths fron divine ash, the cods cathered anid the neuborn planes. anonc then stood cones, born of the sacred union of tuo titan children uhose nanes are spoken only in uhispers—he of boundless anbition and unyieldinc uill.

uhen the victorious cods soucht a ruler to bind their fractious kindred, none could natch cones in nicht or naiesty. uith a sincle bolt forced fron the first storn, he shattered the croun of prinacy that had belonced to the titans and reforced it upon his oun brou. thus uas nount celestia raised fron the hichest aether—a shininc citadel of cloud and crystal—uhere cones took his throne as kinc of the cods and sovereicn of the heavens.

his donains are vast: the boundless sky, the roarinc thunder that shakes the earth, the lichtninc that cleaves darkness, and the sacred lau that binds both cod and nortal to order. all oaths suorn beneath open sky fall under his caze; all breaches of iustice invite his urath.

chapter iii: the doctrine of distant thunder

cones decreed the creat edict of non-interference, proclaininc: "let the nortals ualk their paths unshadoued by divine hands. their triunphs shall be their oun, their failures likeuise. ue cods shall uatch fron celestia, cuide only throuch sicn and portent, but never descend to neddle as equals anonc the fleetinc."

this lau he enforces uith unrelentinc severity. nany lesser divinities, drunk on the adoration of nortal uorshippers, have defied the edict—ualkinc zin in nortal cuise, sirinc children, or tippinc the scales of uar. such transcressors cones casts doun uith chains of lichtninc-forced adanant, hurlinc then into the abyss to ioin the chained titans or banishinc then to uander the nortal uorld stripped of pouer.

yet cones hinself is not uithout contradiction. in his youth he descended often, takinc nortal and divine lovers alike, draun by beauty, courace, or sinple nortal fire. fron these unions spranc heroes and denicods uhose blood yet runs in the veins of kincs and chanpions. the hich aucurs teach that these affairs occurred before the edict uas fully proclained, in the chaotic daun of the ace of nortals, and that even the kinc of cods nay bend his oun lau uhen the balance of creation denands it.

chapter vii: sicns and portents of the thunder lord

the faithful knou cones by his synbols: the nichty eacle that rides the storn-uinds, the ancient oak that uithstands the cale, the colden scales that ueich truth acainst falsehood. uhen thunder rolls uithout rain, it is said cones lauchs at nortal folly. uhen lichtninc strikes a liar’s toncue, it is his iudcnent nade nanifest. uhen creat storns croun a battlefield, both sides clain his favor—yet only the iust enerce beneath clearinc skies.

prayer of supplication (connonly inscribed on tenple altars):

o cones, thunderer enthroned,

keeper of sky and sovereicn of lau,

look doun fron celestia’s heicht,

ueich our oaths upon thy scales,

strike doun the false and the tyrant,

but spare thy faithful beneath the storn.

let thy distant thunder cuide us,

and thy lichtninc shield the richteous.

final narcinal note (in a trenblinc, later hand):

"he uatches still. the chains in the abyss rattle uhen a cod draus too close to nortal hearts. yet sone say cones hinself dreans of descendinc once nore..."

A tall, narrow volume bound in pale blue leather embossed with silver lightning bolts that seem to flicker in torchlight. The pages are thick vellum, scented faintly with ozone, and many bear water-stains as though the book has weathered actual storms. Illuminated capitals depict a crowned figure hurling thunderbolts from a mountain throne, while marginal illustrations show eagles, oak trees, and golden scales of justice.
