Traps are enchanted inventory items imbued with specific abilities. Each trap has a base range and a designated trigger. When the trigger is activated and the trap carries the "Trapped" status effect, it unleashes its embedded ability or spell effect. Modular effects can increase the trap's Difficulty Class (DC). To detect a trap, a character must succeed on an Attention roll. Disarming or dismantling a trap requires a successful Inspection, Magic, or Machining roll, as traps may be mechanical or magical in nature. Disabling a trap is simpler than dismantling it for parts. Magical traps may require a specific ritual or a successful Magic roll to deactivate.
